Guy calls Jade 旦那 (danna) in this… I left it out because in the English localization of the game, there’s no real indication that Guy would refer to him this way so I’m trying to conform to that precedent, and truthfully it is difficult to translate into something that makes sense to an English audience. Anyway, danna is a Buddhist term which is used to refer to the “master” of something, often a shop or a house or, in some contexts, a sugar daddy. It can mean anything from “boss” to “husband” to the original Buddhist “almsgiver.” It is basically The Guy Who’s In Charge Here and also seems to imply that the work he does benefits his subordinates, especially financially.
Guy is probably using this term ironically, which makes it an even harder translation. It kind of reminds me of “bossman” in that very casual and flippant form of address.
