Eichi: ...I don’t understand any of this. Well, I shouldn’t get too impatient. I’ll take my time and pore over every line in this tale of yours.

I want to see this other ending, the happily-ever-after I never could have dreamed of.

  1. Naturally, Wataru calls himself Natsume’s “nii-san,” echoing the appellations Natsume applies to the other Oddballs.
  2. Okay, so. When Sora says this line, I am 90% certain he’s referring back to four lines previous, “Until your ashes return to the sky...” et cetera. In Japanese, this first part of the line is 四大、空に帰すまでは which can be read as “shidai, sora ni kisu made wa.” Sora mishears this as being about him (sora) and also about kisses (kisu), which is why he’s confused (if you ignore the “shidai” part of this, one could also potentially understand the sentence as “until a kiss [is given] to Sora” if you don’t know what kanji is being used). Unfortunately, the voiced line in the story has the 空 character pronounced as “kuu” instead of “sora,” but I believe this might have been a mistake on the seiyuu’s part. If it’s not, I give up. Anyway, what I’ve done to localize this into English is to take some heavy creative liberties in the next part of the line: “until death kisses your soul.” I tried very hard to come up with something that resembles both “Sora” and “kiss.” The original part of this line simply reads 死ぬまでは or “until you die.”

  3. Now, let the magic ritual begin. We will gather all of the precious things that solitary dictator left behind, and this time we will make sure that love blossoms across the world.
  4. For the sake of the future, not the past, and to bring happiness to all living things—

This evening, we will summon the best of our magic so as to continue forward.

  5. The kanji for “spin” that Tsumugi uses is 紡 (tsumugi), which is more or less what Tsumugi’s name would be if he used kanji for it instead of hiragana (つむぎ). Basically he’s being cheesy and referencing himself.
