War and Peace 2

Eichi: Anyhow. What about the others, Yuzuru? Have they woken up yet?

Yuzuru: Ah, Oogami-sama should still be asleep.

And I believe Hibiki-sama is taking a nap, as well. He had said something incomprehensible: “I want to share my dreams with Eichi and all the others!”

Beyond that... Kaoru-sama and the others seem to have slept well during the flight, so they’re likely playing on the beach, full of energy.

Those who didn’t take a nap weren’t sure how to fill the time that you all were sleeping.

One cannot force themself to sleep when they aren’t tired, so they suddenly found themself with considerable free time.

By the way, Anzu-san woke up not too long ago, so I asked her to join Kaoru-sama and the others.

If you leave that girl to her own devices, she’ll insist on cooking or cleaning, so I more or less coerced her to go out and enjoy herself.

The hotel employees handle all the work; if Anzu-san interferes, she’ll rob the workers of their jobs.

Rei: That’s the little lady for you. It’s said that hard work is a virtue, but nevertheless. This extends to you as well, Fushimi-kun; you ought to let loose and enjoy yourself every now and again.

If you don’t have fun while you’re young, you’ll come to regret it in your old age.

Yuzuru: Your wisdom is profound. I’ll surely take what you say to heart, inexperienced though I am.

Rei: Hm... were I to translate that, it might be something along the lines of, “Shut the fuck up and leave me alone,” correct?

Eichi: Fufu. I’ll ask you not to provoke this one here, Sakuma-kun. It’s not that uncommon to find a child who finds no pleasure in play.

Yuzuru: Indeed. I am, in the end, the one who planned, organized, and directed this vacation.

I would prefer to take a step back and work toward the happiness of everyone else, instead.

Eichi: Fufu. I know I’m the one who put you in charge, but you don’t have to put so much pressure on yourself.

This may be the complete opposite of what I just said to Sakuma-san, but you should try to relax a bit and have some fun.

No one will scold you if you make a mistake. Actually, I would say a few mistakes exactly what we need.

Yuzuru: Yes, you are absolutely correct. Yuzuru’s heart is so moved by your kind and thoughtful words that he can’t find the words to speak.

Eichi: Sakuma-kun, a translation, if you would.

Rei: “You’re all so damn annoying!”

Yuzuru: Fufu. In any case, it’s nearly time to eat... I shall go tell everyone who is playing on the beach.

If you both would wait here a moment. Rather, please make yourselves at home.

Eichi: Sure. That sounds just lovely. I hope you won’t mind if I sit with you, Tori ♪

Tori: Huh? Yay, it’s like I get to sleep with Eichi-sama... ♪

Rei: Well, I’ll go wake our Doggy. I’d prefer to let him sleep longer, but he’ll surely complain later if we let him be.

Eichi: Fufu. Then I suppose I should go wake up Wataru.

I’d love to pull a prank on him as he wakes up... I can’t even imagine what Wataru would look like when he’s asleep, so I can’t help but be curious. And anyway, he’s always waking me up in the middle of my naps, so I’d like to repay him for that.

Yuzuru: Of course. Then I’ll leave that to you two. If I could trouble you to bring that dog... I mean, Leon-san, as well. He is sharing a room with Oogami-sama.

I’ve also prepared some food for him, more or less.

Tori: Yep! The recipe’s our family secret~ It’s King’s favorite ☆ But since he’s a different breed, I wonder if he’ll still like it.

Rei: Fufu. Allow me again to express appreciation for your hospitality.

(...Hm. Perhaps I was being too cautious; this has been a perfectly peaceful vacation so far.)

(I don’t have the sense that any of them are plotting to take this opportunity to thwart UNDEAD.)

(Still, I mustn’t let down my guard. I can’t help but feel some ill will in our being invited to an environment filled with that which I am vulnerable to, such as the sun’s rays and running water...)

(So to be safe, I ought to stay alert.)

(So that I may never make the same mistake again. So that I may never lose anyone again.)[1]

Eichi: (Fufu, suspicious, are we? You’re easier to read now than you used to be... Sakuma-kun.)

(Perhaps you’ve become weaker, or perhaps I’ve gained experience... or both.)

(Whichever it is, now that I’ve fooled you once, you can’t possibly trust me again, can you?)

(How sad. And here we are, fellows of Yumenosaki Academy. Well, I suppose I should be the last one saying that.)

(We can never become friends. As you said before, I’m just like you.)[2]

(But I’m still the one who killed you all by my own hands—you who I may have been able to call friends.)

(I am not allowed even to hope for friendship. Not that I particularly mind, of course.)

(I had no interest in being your friend. I wanted to stand on the same level as you and compete as equals.)

Eichi: (O gods, O geniuses, you who are desired by this world.)

(O idols: let us love one another ever more—and then kill each other.)
